For those of us not lucky enough to have one of the new Pixel devices on pre-order, you can still enjoy some of the software benefits the device brings. Google Camera v4.2 is found out of the box on the Pixel, and thanks to developers on XDA, a modified version of that new version is available for anyone using a Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P.
The app will not work on non-Nexus devices, so if you own a different device, don’t even attempt to get the new app. Other users are reporting errors on other Nexus smartphones such as the Nexus 6.
However, this is just one of the Pixel features that were ported or are about to be ported to other Nexus devices that have upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. There is also the Google Assistant that has been ported, which was considered an exclusive feature of the Pixel.
