Recently, there have been plenty of rumors about a new line of cheaper iPads and MacBooks.
According to a lot of leaks, the MacBook Air may get a cheaper, less-expensive refresh. It is said that Apple will launch a 13.3 inch “budget-friendly” MacBook sometime in Q2 of this year. The time matches with WWDC in June of this year. DigiTimes indicates that the MacBook will have a Retina Display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier this month that Apple would release a cheaper 13-inch MacBook Air during the second quarter of this year and that the lower price could help boost Apple’s laptop sales. A few days later, a report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claimed that the new MacBook Air would cost between $799 to $899, matching up with Kuo’s report.
Cheaper iPads are also expected. DigiTimes says that we can expect an updated 9.7-inch iPad in Q2, too, and a new iPad Pro in the second half of this year. It is rumored that the new iPad will cost somewhere around $260, which is lower than $330, which is the, which is the price of the iPad Apple released last March.
