Seems as if Apple is testing 8th gen Intel CPUs in their upcoming MacBook Pro series.
Looks like Apple is planning to upgrade their current line of MacBook Pros with the latest Intel CPUs, judging by the benchmarks spotted on GeekBench. One if the CPUs is a Core i7-8559U, with a base frequency of 2.7 GHz and a turbo of 4.5 GHz. It is a quad-core chip with hyper-threading.

In this geekbench run, we can see a score of 16607 in the multi core test and 4448 in the single-core one. Note the massive multi-core score. However, don’t be surprised if Apple downclocks the chip to use less than than 28W of power. Luckily, the design of the chip allows it go as low as 20W.

The Intel Core i7-7820HQ used in last year’s 15-inch MacBook Pro was laid down with a 14nm process, and has 4 cores and 8 threads, the same as the i7-8559U that appeared in these benchmarks. The major difference in the older chip has a slower base frequency of 2.6GHz and turbo speed of 3.9GHz.
And we’re also hoping that the keyboards won’t suck.
